Rules and Guidelines
General Rules;;
Respect. It is one of the simplest rules on the site, and we have no tolerance for those who break this rule. What does this mean? Be nice, don’t trash other member’s writing abilities, or applications. There are only so many warnings before you are banned. This also includes no member-to-member drama. If you have a problem with a person, just be sure to steer clear of roleplaying with them.
You must be accepted before posting anywhere but the OOC chat on the board.
This board is rated PG-15; We ask that you are at least fifteen, and if you are not, then only join if you are very mature. It’s a question that everybody asks, sex is allowed, but don't roleplay it out to the full extent. If you have more questions about it, then send a private message to a member of the staff. When roleplaying adult content, please be courteous and respect not everyone wants to read such conduct. Include R-rating as part of the topic name and in a different color at the top of the thread.
No character is allowed to be portrayed by a personal picture of you or any person that you know or do not know; all characters must be portrayed as celebrities, unless approved by admin.
Signatures are limited on size. The standard signature size is 500x200. We will accept slightly over that, such as 560x300 but any more is more than likely too big. You can only use one main image in your signature [unless using icons]. Blinkies, text, icons, its all allowed, as long as your signature isn't flooded with graphics. Please do not use photographs for your signature, you can request a graphic from one of the many makers. If you can't find graphic help, then request it from the admin, we’d be glad to help.
Character Creation Rules;;
Please, when creating a character, fill out each section carefully and to the best of your ability. The administration will simply deny a character if you write out a line in any of the sections.
Steer away from Mary-Sues and Gary-Drews. A Mary Sue is the student who is beautiful, best of the class, and perfect. Every girl wants to be like her, every guy wants to be her boyfriend, and all the teachers simply love her. A Gary-Drew is the almost exact opposite. They wear gangster or punk clothing, despite they never work at anything they are the best of the class, and whenever pulling a prank, they do so perfectly. No. At __________, we don’t want to see either of these characters (genders can be reversed), and we highly frown upon these characters. They’ll be automatically denied.
Please make your character’s history at least fifteen lines long. You can not possibly tell how your character is who they are today with four lines of history.
Be original. Not every student is going to have a traumatized past, and not every student is going to be breathtakingly beautiful. Create something different and admin can almost guarantee you’ll be accepted quicker.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is well-known for its ability to teach young witches and wizards. But that is all. You may not have a character whom is a half-breed, and you may not have a character who has learned similar abilities; such as an Animagus or Shape-Shifter. This isn’t a Transformers roleplay, it is a Harry Potter roleplay. No non-human students and adults. Very few will be permitted, and they will be under very strict circumstances.
As for the limit of characters you are permitted on the site, the number is three. You may not post all these applications on one day. Do not send in another character application before your first one is accepted. It is very tediously annoying to have to weed out so many inactive characters.
Posting Rules;;
BE LITERATE. It's so hard to get into the roleplaying mood when you are reading a post that has very poor grammar and literacy. Use adjectives, facial expressions, attire, and feelings. It all makes for a better roleplay, as well as a much more detailed post for your partner to reply to.
Your posts must be at least eight sentences long. If they aren't, then you will be warned. This isn’t a rule we will be taking lightly.
We aren’t claiming to be the hardest and most literate place to roleplay but there are a couple of key points to keep in mind. Grammar and Spelling is a key. One mistake is okay every now and again, but if we see that your mistakes are consistent, then we'll be sure to send you a message, telling you to straiten up. Please capitalize names, places, and anything else that would be common sense to capitalize.
When writing, please use third-person, past tense. This means no I’s, We’s, Us, Our, My, etc unless in dialogue. This also means verbs must end in –ed unless it is an exception verb.
If using a canon character, you must stay in the personality and traits of that character. If the staff think that you are swinging out of the character, then we'll private message you, telling you to straiten up, or we'll take away your canon.
Death isn't allowed, unless it flows with the plot line or is approved by the staff. This means suicide and homicide.
No teacher-student dating. It's not allowed at all whatsoever.
Please minimal chatspeak in roleplaying threads. That is why we have a chat station, and PMs. Please take your conversations out of the roleplaying thread.
No powerplaying. If you do not know what this means, it basically controling a character whom is not yours. Example.
David reached out for the quaffle and kicked Marilyn in the face.
That is the most obvious form of powerplaying. None of it thanks.
Chatbox Rules;;
First of all, do not portray anybody else. That's wrong, and IPs are known, so you will be blocked.
If you are starting to have a deep conversation with one person in the chatbox, please finish it via private messages.
Do not be rude to anybody while chatting in the chatbox.
You may ask a person to roleplay, sign your plot, and do any other posting activity, but do not ask someone for their e-mail address. If you want their e-mail address, then send them a private message asking for it.
No double-posting in the chatbox. It refreshes automatically, and if you forgot to say something, hold your tongue until someone else posts. Please and thank you.
